Located in the city center of Johor Bahru, KSL mall is definitely one of the popular and convenient spots among the locals and tourists.
Have you ever have difficulties in deciding what to eat in KSL?
I came across Taste of Georgetown and decided to give it a try.
Inside the Taste of Georgetown, you can easily recognize the wall murals! Notice the suitcases overhead, maybe it is trying to bring out the old vintage feeling?? as Penang is one of the town filled with history.
Assam Laksa RM 8.80
Thick broth with a variety of vegetables, the assam laksa surprised you with a mixture of sweet, sour and spicy flavors. The sardines are fresh and the noodles is soft and springy. I enjoyed the broth a lot and this assam laksa is comparable with the one I had in Penang!
White Curry Mee RM 8.80
You must have known the Penang white curry mee in the market? The Penang white curry comes in 2 choices, with or without pig blood. After mixing the chilli, the soup turns into the normal curry color!
Hokkien Mee RM 8.80; Hokkien Mee with Roasted Pork RM 12.80; Hokkien Mee with Prawn RM 12.80
The Hokkien Mee is another must try. It comes with three choices on the menu, the original, or with roaster pork or prawn. Before you add the sambal belacan from Penang into the prawn soup, try the prawn soup first. It is sweet, not from the MSG or sugar but the sweetness from fresh prawns.
Curry Chicken with Rice RM 12.80
Tender chicken with delicious curry sauce, this curry chicken is worth a try!
Nasi Lemak RM 6.80
The special thing on this nasi lemak is the sambal! It tastes different from the usual sambal as it is sambal from Penang! It is slightly sweeter and goes well with the rice!
Signature Fried Chicken RM 9.80
Crunchy and tender chicken wing.
Penang Chee Cheong Fan RM 5.80
The chee cheong fan is soft and smooth. The sauce is sweet and there is some taste of Penang prawn paste, coupled well with the chee cheong fun.
Popiah RM 5.80
Chinese turnip wrapped in the soft skin, it is moisture and sweet!
Lor Bak Platter RM 15.80
The lor bak aka meat roll platter is fresh and delicious! I thought it will be too oily but surprisingly it is not! It goes well with the dips- sweet and spicy dips.
3 Layer Tea RM 4.70
Chendol RM 5.00
Penang food will not be completed without chendol! The chendol is thick but soft. Coupled with red beans, coconut milk and gula malacca, it is complete heaven.
If you like Penang food but don’t want to travel to Penang, you can try Taste of Georgetown in Johor Bahru! Personally I enjoyed the assam laksa, the lok bak platter and the hokkien mee!
